Your experience

Some images or feelings come back without warning. You might find yourself on high alert, easily startled, or numb to almost everything. Your mind knows you're safe now, but your body often acts as if it's still back there. You've learned not to think about it, and yet it still finds its way back to you.

Does this sound familiar?

Body & alertness

  • Easily startled
  • Always on guard
  • Nightmares, poor sleep
  • Sudden flashbacks
  • Chronic tension
  • Easily drained

Emotions & relationships

  • Numb or detached
  • Hard to trust
  • Shame and self-blame
  • Avoiding reminders
  • The world feels unsafe

How I work

Here's how we'll work together:

  • Safety always comes first. We start by building a sense of stability and inner resources together, and you can ask to stop at any time.
  • Using trauma-informed, person-centered approaches, we work toward healing slowly, only as far as you're ready to go.
  • Little by little, your past experiences are understood and given a place, and the sense of control comes back to who you are today.

What might change along the way

  • A place safe enough for your body to slowly learn to relax
  • Noticing when you're being triggered, and knowing how to bring yourself back
  • Building, little by little, your own ways of facing daily life
  • Letting the past become one part of your story, rather than everything that defines you

Common questions about trauma

What approaches do you use for trauma?

Following your pace, I use talk therapy, Brainspotting, and drama therapy to support healing.

It happened years ago. Is there any point in working on it now?

Trauma doesn't have an expiration date, and neither does healing. Many people only start working through it years later.

What kinds of experiences count as trauma?

It isn't only major events. Being put down or neglected over a long time, or being hurt in a relationship, can also leave trauma responses. What you went through counts.
